FIRST TIME TO THE GORGE
The Nelson Mountain Bike Club operates shuttles at the Wairoa Gorge Bike Park. It is located one hour away from central Nelson and there are lots of options for riders wishing to experience the magic of The Gorge. All riders must pre-book. Here is some information to help people make the most of their time at the Gorge.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Gorge’ is home to over 70km of world class hand-built single track. Trails start at grade 3 and go all the way to grade 6. You will get almost 1000m descending on every top to bottom run! Most riders do 3 - 6 laps in a day
TRAILS
The Gorge offers trails graded 3 - 6 with the majority being grade four. It is perfect for intermediate riders and above. There are well sign posted and easy to follow trail routes so navigating is no problem.

SHUTTLES
The regular shuttle service operates on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
You'll need to be at the Gorge by 8am and shuttles run all day through until last shuttle at 3pm. Shuttles must be pre booked. Our vehicles are Toyota Landcruisers.
ACCOMMODATION
It's easy to stay at the Gorge. There are two lodges, one at the top of the bike park, Gibbs Lodge, and one at the bottom, Barry's Bunkhouse. Book a whole lodge or just a room! There are several combo for staying and riding.
GROUPS
The Gorge is the perfect place to visit with a group. Whether it's a special occasion or just a day/weekend escape there are several options for both shuttles and accommodation, including all inclusive airport return packages.
PRIVATE BOOKINGS
We can open the Gorge any day of the week if you'd like to make a private booking.
Private bookings can be just for shuttles or shuttles with accommodation
